Hello, Radiant Souls!✨
How are you doing today? I've been struggling with a sore throat lately-probably because of the yellow dust in the air. I hope you're staying healthy and taking care of yourself.
Today feels special because I'm writing my very first post about Search Engine Optimization (SEO)! There are so many things I want to do, but time just seems to fly. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way...right?
Some of you may not have started your Google Blogger journey yet, while others might already be posting regularly. Whether you blog just for personal joy or with big goals in mind, there's something truly exciting about sharing your hard work with the world and having it seen by more people.
That's why today, I want to introduce two essential concepts that will help your blog become more visible on search engines like Google and Bing. Let's dive in and learn together!
| What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization-in simple terms, it means improving your website or blog so it appears higher in search engine results, like Google or Bing.
Let's say you run a lovely little bakery. One day, someone types “best tiramisu cake near me” into Google. If your website has the right keywords, fast loading speed, and shares yummy-looking content, Google is more likely to put your site near the top. That means more people will discover your bakery- and maybe even order a slice!
So, in a nutshell:
SEO helps people find your blog more easily by making it search engine-friendly. More visibility = more visitors. Simple, right?
| What is Google Search Console?
Google Search Console is a free essential tool from Google that helps you monitor how your website or blog performs in search results-and how to make it more visible.
Let's say you run a small online store selling handmade candles. You've created a lovely website, written beautiful product descriptions, and even added some blog posts. But here's the question: how do people find you on Google?
With Google Search Console, you can:
- See which keywords people use to find your site
- Track how often your site appears in search results
- Find out how many people actually click on your links.
For example, if your site shows up in search results but no one's clicking, you might want to improve your titles or search snippets to be more inviting.
In short, Google Search Console helps you understand how your website performs in Google Search and gives you insights to improve it.
| How Google Search Console and SEO Work Together
Google Search Console is a practical tool that plays an important role in your SEO strategy. While SEO is the overall plan to improve your site ranking higher on search engines, Google Search Console gives you real data and features to apply and refine that plan.
Here are six features that show how they work together:
١ Search Traffic Analysis
You can see what keywords people are using to find your blog. This helps you understand what your audience is searching for-and lets you optimize your content accordingly.
٢ Crawling & Indexing Error Reports
Google Search Console helps you identify and fix issues that prevent your pages from being properly crawled and indexed. The better Google can "read" your blog, the better your content can show up in search results.
Third, it analyzes links to your site from other sites (backlinks) to help you improve the credibility of your site.
٣ Backlink Analysis (Links from other Sites)
Backlinks are links from other websites pointing to your blog. These act like "votes of confidence" in Google's eyes.
Imagine you run a travel blog, and a popular travel website links to your post about "Best Beaches in Greece."
In this case, Google Search Console will show this in the Links report. The more trustworthy sites that link to you, the more authority your blog gains-which can improve your rankings.
٤ Mobile Usability Check
Mobile-friendliness is a key factor in search rankings today. With the Mobile Usability report, you can find issues like text that's too small or buttons that are too close together. This helps ensure your blog looks great and works well on smartphone—making both readers and search engines happy.
٥ Search Performance Monitoring
Track important metrics like:
- Total clicks
- Impressions
- Click-through rates (CTR), etc.
This helps you measure what's working-and you can fine-tune your SEO strategy.
٦ Submit and Monitor Your Sitemap
A sitemap is like a roadmap of your website. It tells Google which pages you have and helps ensure they get indexed properly.
With Google Search Console, you can:
- Submit your sitemap so Google knows where to find your content
- Check if all your pages are being indexed
- Spot problems, like pages being skipped or excluded
For example, if you've created several new blog posts but they're not showing up in search results, the Sitemap report can help you figure out why.
In short, submitting a sitemap in Google Search Console helps Google discover and index your content faster and more reliably.
